Definition of Pilates and its benefits:
The Pilates Method is designed to increase strength and flexibility, and create a balance in the body through a series of exercises to change. Commonalities:
Regarding the fitness for the two disciplines, we must know that the goal will not make you sweat, but rather to rebalance your muscles. Respiration and the relationship between mind and body play an essential role. Pilates and yoga also share the idea that the body, aligned, can be treated, and thus have positive effects on the mind. Both are based on series of controlled movements.

Differences:
The main difference is that Pilates is also working on devices specially designed by Joseph Pilates for his method. Pilates exercises focus primarily the abdominals, lower back and pelvis, and then the spine and radiates throughout the body. Pilates works then the balance, endurance and strength. For yoga, however, it is mainly a fitness of the body via the mind.
